Iranian ensembles to attend Spanish choral festival

TEHRAN, Sep. 08 (MNA) – The Iranian groups Avaye Mahan and Parseh will compete in the Canta Al Mar International Choir Festival, held in Calella, Spain from October 21 to 25.

Avaye Mahan is led by Nima Fatehi who told MNA that the ensembles will attend the Spanish music festival, as the representatives of Iran. Although both the groups will compete with one another but totally the participation of two Iranian groups in a credible foreign festival can indeed be a precious event for Iran’s music.

Canta Al Mar Choir Festival is a credible music event in Spain and it is somehow a sequence to Interkultur festivals held in October in Spain, he added.

“Avaye Mahan plans to perform a wide repertoire of songs from medieval Baroque and Renaissance concertos to romantic and classical pieces,” Fatehi added.

Combinations of Omar Khayyam’s poems and Liza Lehmann’s vocal compositions, and selections of Iranian folk songs will also be performed, he said.

Avaye Mahan was crowned best vocal ensemble in the Western classical music section at the 30th Fajr International Music Festival, which was held in Tehran and several other Iranian cities in February.
