‘Raana’s Silence’ to vie in Dutch filmfest

TEHRAN, Jul. 29 (MNA) – Iranian Director Behzad Rafieis ‘Raana’s Silence’ will be screened in Cinekid Film, Television and New Media Festival in the Netherlands.

‘Raana Silence’, Rafieis debut feature film, will vie in the completion section of the 29th Cinekid Film, Television and New Media Festival, which will take place from the 15th until the 23rd of October 2015 at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam.

According to its website, each year Cinekid presents its prestigious Best Children’s Film Competition showcasing the best new films for children and young people from all over the world. The festival takes great care selecting films of all genres and including works for children in each of Cinekid’s age categories (from 3 to 14 years old). On average, 15 feature length films are invited.

‘Raana Silence’ tells the story of a seven-year-old Iranian village girl, Raana, and her chicken, Kakoli. The hen lays eggs for Raana and she draws a chicken on the shells of the eggs with colored pencils. She, along with her brother, collect the eggs so they can have the chickens like their hen Kakoli. On a rainy night, Kakoli is hunted by a jackal and the story goes on.

A production of Art Center, the Iranian film has so far been awarded as the Best Feature Film at the 22nd Düsseldorf Childrens Film Festival–KinderKino Festival (KiKiFe) in Germany and is planned to be screened at Sharjah International Childrens Film Festival.
