3 Iranian films to partake in Los Angeles Filmfest.

Three Iranian films will participate and compete in the 31st edition of Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival which will be held in 2015 in California.

Abbas Davoudi’s That Morning, One Nil directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Junk Girl by Mohammad Zareh and Shalale Kheiri are the three films representing Iran in this event.

These three movies will compete with ones from the US, Canada, Taiwan, France, Vietnam, Japan, China, Britain, Australia, Lebanon, Singapore, South Korea and so on.

Junk Girl is an animation created in Tabriz. It narrates the story of a girl who was made of junk. She looked dirty, and smelled like a skunk. She was unhappy and spent a lot of time at the dumps. But, there was a light in her life, and that was a man who liked her a lot. But she made a decision a bit too harsh. 

This animated film is an adaptation of the namesake poem from Tim Burtons The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy, and Other Stories book. To date, this animation has been nominated for awards in several different film festivals around the world. Junk Girl was also screened in Tehrans International Short Film Festival. 

Directed by Saman Hosseinpour, One-Nil which has attended several international film festivals including the 17th annual BAMkids Film Festival in US and 3rd MiCe Film Festival in Spain, narrates the story of a boy who gets so excited watching soccer that he forgets he is in the middle of a haircut. 

The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival is Southern California’s premier showcase for Asian Pacific American and Asian international cinema. The 31st Edition of the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival this year includes 140 feature films and shorts from over 20 countries. The festival will be held on April 23-30.
