Iran social drama to vie at Turkish film festival

Iranian filmmaker Pouran Derakhshandeh who directed Hush! Girls Don’t Scream
Iranian filmmaker Pouran Derakhshandeh’s social drama Hush! Girls Don’t Scream has entered the lineup of the 5th Malatya International Film Festival in Turkey.

The film is scheduled to be screened at the Main Competition section of the festival that will be held in the the Turkish historical city of Malatya.

Sponsored by Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation, the film has garnered rave reviews at a number of international film festivals.

The film tells the story of abused children and ignorant families who do not make enough time in their day to listen and solve their childrens issue.

Derakhshandeh’s drama received great attention from the movie goers in Canada and the United States.

The film also swept several main awards at the Seventh Annual Iranian Film Festival in San Francisco.

Oscar Academy had earlier requested a copy of screen script of the movie during a letter signed by the center’s Script Librarian Gregory Walsh.

The 5th Malatya International Film Festival kicked off on November 21 and will run until November 27.
