Iranian film The Corner directed by Abed Abest is slated to represent the country’s cinema at the 36th Cairo International Film Festival.

The film, made at Abests home, will receive a special screening in two rounds at the festival.

Since Abest is the films director, writer and only actor, The Corner is considered an individual cinematic creation.

The 75-minute film depicts a man named Amir who sits in front of his camera and starts to reveal what’s happened to him and his three friends in one night and how he caused the death of his father and his niece.

Abest is a cinema and theater actor who had a role in Shahram Mokri’s recent acclaimed drama Fish and Cat.

The line-up of the 2014 Cairo International Film Festival includes four international premieres, six world premiers and 55 Arab and African premieres, according to the festival’s website.

Established in 1976, the festival is scheduled to run from November 9 to 18 at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt.
